I’m fascinated by this picture because of the woman who is participating! I’m hoping to find and film for an educational social networking site the maori chants and war dances being done by teen and children of both sexes. If you have any suggestions or leads I would appreciate having them.

To be honest there is no, and I repeat no, excuse for abusing a match official either physically or verbally. If the player was sufficiently concussed to act in this manner then I feel he was sufficiently concussed to be judged unfit to play. In the junior game with our U15 and U18 girls if they suffer from concussion they are not allowed to play for three weeks - I don’t know if this is the case in adult rugby but I feel from a personal safety and a duty of care point of view it probably should be the case. Using concussion as an excuse for bad behaviour and violence is in my humble opinion a step down the road to the unacceptable behaviour we see in the UK on the football (soccer) pitch

Hi Bamberio, thanks for the visit from Yorkshire!

I think that in the final analysis, you are right about Carter being a much more complete player (Defense, Tackling, running with the ball), but if you have a fly half with a lethal boot, that can overcome a lot of shortcomings. BTW, you have a very nice blog, I will add that to my list of must-visit rugby centric blogs.

Great blog.

Morné Steyn is irritatingly good (as the Lions will testify) but he’s still not the complete package if you compare him with someone like Dan Carter.

He’s had an excellent season though. I can only bet that his encore to all this will be to record the Christmas number one, find a cure for cancer and develop a new range of rugby boots which promise the ability to kick 60 metres with no sweat. He could call them ‘Morné Glory’. (Sorry, I couldn’t resist!)

things are much the same over this side of the pond Steve - people panicking at the slightest sniffle - and Tamiflu also has side effects in children which are less pleasant than the flu itself sometimes - just as in the US the media are hyping things up to a high panic
